KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A missile strike on the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukraine border on Thursday killed six people, including a child, and injured 18 others, a Russian official said. It was the latest in exchanges of long-range missile and rocket fire in Russia's war on Ukraine. Five of the 18 people injured in Belgorod, a city of around 340,000 people, were children, regional Gov. Dozens of people were killed and injured in an attack there over Russia’s New Year holiday weekend. The Russian missiles used on Thursday included Iskander ballistic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, guided aviation missiles and adapted S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.

(Reuters) - A Russian missile struck an apartment block in a village in Ukraine's northern Kharkiv region on Wednesday, killing two people and wounding at least four, police said, adding that four others might be buried under the rubble. The region and its capital suffer frequent Russian attacks. Police said that the S-300 missile system was likely used during the strike on the village of Velykyi Burluk, destroying eight of 16 flats in the building. (Reuters) -Drones attacked civilian infrastructure late on Friday in and near Kharkiv, Ukraine's second city, and officials reported explosions in the city. Regional governor Oleh Synehubov, writing on the Telegram messaging app, said drones had damaged civilian infrastructure in the city's Nemyshlianskyi district. Reporters from Suspilne public television observed the glow of a fire over the city. Synehubov said a cafe had been hit in Velykyi Burluk, a town east of Kharkiv. Kharkiv has been under attack regularly since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and has been a frequent target of Russian assaults in recent weeks.
